This photograph was taken from Zabriskie Point, Death Valley, CA. The sun was peaking above the horizon to the East, but the light was blocked from the Hills and Valley in the background by Low heavy clouds.
Mono Lake Sunset
Each year the water level of Mono Lake continues to decline as water demand continues to rise in the southern part of the state. Lowering the Lake to provide water to the people living in the City of Angles was prohibited by a law passed in the late 1970s. As the water drops each year, more Tufa is exposed, making for ever-changing scenery. The whitest part of the tufa at the bottom would not have been visible even a couple of years earlier.
Creek - Hot Creek Geologic Site
Volcanic activity here in the Hot Creek Geologic Site can raise water temperatures above boiling point and be heavily laden with Sulfuric Acid. Not a creek to you would want to fall into. This is a beautiful area to visit, especially in the winter; however, when visiting the site, please follow directions and, stay behind the fence line; stay safe.

Smith Ranch, Fall Color
This Oak started to make its way to the fires place in 2008 when the photograph was taken; today, in 2022, the tree still hangs on with only the loss of a few lower branches due to age and weather.

Colorful Plant Foliage- Yosemite National Park
This plant surrounded a small pond with no name along the roadside in Yosemite National Park. I have visited the area many times since the photo was taken back in 2008 but have not since seen a color like this. Indeed an exceptional moment in time.

Canyon headed to Tokatee Falls, Oregon
As a landscape photographer, you can find yourself in some precarious situations. To capture this image, I climbed down a very slippery and steep rock slope, which was dry but covered in a dusting of sand. As I started to depart, I lost my footing and slid foot-first, headed for the freezing creek water below. With my feet and lower legs already over the edge, I caught hold of a small branch and managed to stop my fall. Just around the corner of the distant creek shown here is a 125-foot waterfall. Being by myself, I would have been hard to find holding onto the rocks in the stream to have stopped my plunge. Whew! Close call!
