    Enchanting Tranquillity

It's hard to imagine that this beautiful little waterfall is actually located in the confines of Death Valley NP! An interesting 1.5 mile round trip hike takes you down a canyon and across a small creek to this secluded and quiet area, where the only sounds you'll hear come from the water cascading down the falls, and an occasional bird singing in the distance!

This is a single shot of the illuminated flow. Much fun trying after dark photography.

I took this image around 10:30PM on a dark night with very little ambient light reflecting on the spillway. I used my light painting rig to illuminate the scene and combined three frames in Photomatix (HDRI) software.

This image was taken in the daylight on an overcast day. I liked the way the small branches turned the flow into a neat spew of water.

Just below Copeland Falls you'll find this neat cascade.

A .3 mile hike from the parking area takes you to this small, but nice, little waterfall. The overcast day provided even light across the scene.

  • National Creek Falls, Oregon. We slowly worked our way across fallen tree bridges to get to the side of the creek that offered the best view of the Falls. I walked over and scooted back, but I didn't fall in the creek! Rick walked both ways, show-off!

  • This is a view from the top of the tunnel where the water drops 40 feet into the opening that leads to the lower out-fall. From this vantage point the rock vibrates with the power of the water crashing through the tunnel below our feet.

  • Swift Current Falls, Many Glacier. The creek that runs below this powerful waterfall gives the falls it's name (by us). When Jeanne asked a Ranger the name of the falls, he shrugged his shoulders and said "I dunno"...... So, I guess we could have called it " I dunno" falls :)

  • This cascade and waterfall in Waterton NP is along the road that leads into the park. It doesn't have an official name, but it was too captivating to pass up on the trip into the park. HDRI processed in Photomatix.

  • This waterfall is named after a real Indian Princess that was placed in a tree overlooking the falls when she died. Her name was Running Eagle, and so the falls now shares her name. If you look closely, you can see that this is really two falls. The upper falls is obvious, but the lower falls actually comes out of a cave in the lower third of the image. Normally, only the lower falls would be seen this time of the year, but with the large snow fall and rains this winter/spring, it's still going strong from both water flows.

  • In Waterton NP on the Canadian side of Waterton Glacier NP, the Waterton township has a really nice surprise for visitors in the form of Cameron Falls. Less than 50 yards from the road at the South end of town is this powerful display of water falling fifty feet into the pool below the cascade. Our visit at this waterfall was cut short when the morning rain began to get us a bit too damp.....

  • Natural Falls State Park, Oklahoma, HDRI image. This beautiful waterfall and grotto is a very peaceful place. Bench seats allow visitors to sit and enjoy the sight and sound of the cascading water as it pours over the 70 ft. drop to the pool below. Springs run out of the walls that feed the ferns growing in the cracks in the rough limestone formations. All of this is contrasted with orange and green colors throughout the entire structure. All in all, it's a good 10 degrees cooler at the base of the falls than at the top of the walk-way that winds down to the observation platform. A beautiful place to visit......

  • Fall Foliage Sept 25 2010. Jeanne bought a post card in a convienent store in Silverton with this waterfall depicted. It's unusual for the photographer to give directions to their private/secret places, but this one did! So, we drove to where we thought it was located, and after a couple of bumpy miles of passing it up on the road, turning around and going back, we found it. It's a gorgeous place, and a great waterfall to say the least..... :)
