  • Green Lichens

    Green Lichens

We were exploring the roads that head West out of Bishop, CA., and we found this area that was covered with beautiful green lichens at about 9,000 ft elevation. Great area that we will visit again in the Fall of 2020.

  • Back Roads to Death Valley NP

Back Roads to Death Valley NP

We headed East out of Bishop, CA., to take a few back roads that would eventually head into DVNP. A few miles into the drive we came across this beautiful area full of huge boulders covered with green lichens on the South side of the road...... Looking North , the view changes dramatically. You'll see craggy rock faces, with many plants and flowers growing out of the cracks high and low throughout the boulders. Gotta go back and spend more time here!

Our friend, Gary Holman, painted this really neat mural, not sure when it was completed.

  • Prong Horn

    Prong Horn

Toward the end of the 160 loop, and back in WY, we saw several Prong Horns a few yards off the road. As soon as we stopped the noise of our truck caused this curious guy to look right at me. Click, click, click.......

  • Sheeps Creek Geologic Area

    Sheeps Creek Geologic Area

Toward the end of the fifteen mile loop we happened upon these fellas. They were headed into the rough, so I quickly zoomed out to 300mm and grabbed a few frames before they wandered into the brush.

The loop drive spurs off the main highway for fifteen miles of beautiful sights. The big loop, 160 miles of good road, starts just South of Rock Springs, WY.

  • Grand Tetons

    Grand Tetons

We arrived late in the afternoon at the RV Park, and while I was setting up everything I glanced at the mountains in the distance. The light was filtering through the clouds and casting beams that accented the scene. I raced in, grabbed my camera, climbed up on the roof of our trailer and snapped several images before the light changed. This is the most dramatic of the series I took. The Tetons never cease to amaze!

    Big Bend State Park

This image was taken in the Big Bend State Park on a rainy morning the day after Thanksgiving, 2015. Volcanic ash and rocks create an interesting subject, especially when wet. Most of the volcanic activity was around 25 million years ago.

  • Bull Elk

    Bull Elk

Hard to believe, but this is in town in Estes Park, CO. These majestic animals have no fear of people, which can be dangerous to the folks that try to get too close for photos. Best to keep your distance!

  • Bull Elk

I used my 28-300mm lens to capture this guy. I'm 30 yards away, which is close enough for me....

  • The Prince of Wales Hotel sits atop a lofty hill that jutts out into Waterton Lake about a half a mile North of Waterton Township, in Alberta Canada. The Canadian side of the NP is very scenic, and the off and on rain showers framed the mountains in a misty light that was accented by rays of brightenss as the clouds moved quickly in a strong wind.

  • At the top of the "Bear Tooth Highway", East of Yellowstone NP, this dramatic view of the the range can be seen. Bear Tooth Highway starts at the Eastern edge of Yellowstone NP, and runs fifty miles to Red Lodge Montana. There was no shortaqe of snow and beautiful clouds to make the trip even more eye quenching as we wound around the switchbacks to reach the summit at 10,900ft.
