Sand Tufa Delight
Our last night for this trip was spent at Mono Lake shooting the Sand Tufa. These structures are very unique to see, and fun to photograph, especially at night! The temperature called for a warm jacket, but once we started shooting, the chilly air seemed to not matter! Very fun evening and end to a great trip!

Lady Boot Reboot

Once more to the Boot
On a recent trip to the Alabama Hills in California we decided to take another crack at Lady Boot Arch. After an encounter with a large Black Widow spider and a restless Rattle Snake, we got this image!

This Arch is gorgeous in the daylight, but really puts on a show after the sun sets and the Milky Way rises!

Another June, with no Moon, and we've returned to "the Clops" for another try at a new lighting scheme... Love this arch!
Cyclops Arch Closer Look
Our last visit to this fantastic arch was in June, and since we've changed some camera gear, we wanted to give it another go, and get closer. Way to go a7riii, with the Tamron 17-28mm lens attached.
Mighty Cyclops
Rick and I just returned from a great trip to the Lone Pine and Mono Lake area in California, and we had some spectacular nights photographing under the stars. This was taken at Cyclops Arch in the Alabama Hills and is a work in progress! More to come from this area, soon!
Sotol Overlook
There was a fire in the Chisos Mountains the night we set up at Sotol Overlook, and we couldn't have had better conditions. Really wanted the entire arc, but there was a crowd to my left, and I couldn't get the last image I needed due to a heavy "KEVIN" effect. This was my first attempt to capture the entire arc of the Milky Way, and what a night it was! This image is a Panorama shot using my D800 with my 20mm lens attached, and consists of five images in portrait mode and stitched together in LR.
Milky Way over Terlingua, TX
Rick and I were visiting The Big Bend of Texas a couple of years ago, and photographed a beautiful look at the Milky Way from the Mud Huts overlooking Terlingua!

Blood Moon
Clouds persisted, so I couldn't get the images as sharp as I wanted them to be. Despite the haze the color came thru nicely. I'm sure that our fellow photographers in the Big Bend area caught some really nice images of this beautiful happening.
